Young Art: Multi-media creating and art making (4–6 years and caregiver)
We will explore the use of watercolor sticks, acrylic paints, chalk pastel, glue and paper, pen and crayons all around the session’s theme. During the first session the children will create compositions representing their summer experiences including: what they saw, places they went, and things that happened. They will then change focus to the coming fall season with all its beauty! The next session’s theme is the fantasy, fun and contrasts associated with Halloween as well as the traditions of Thanksgiving.

Baby Signs® Sign, Say and Play (6 months–2 years and caregiver)
This Baby Signs® play class program is designed especially for parents and their babies. Our fun games, songs, and activities highlight important developmental skills and introduce families to many of the most popular signs. This class will provide you and your child with an opportunity to meet and spend time with friends, an in-depth understanding of the Baby Signs® Program, easy ways to learn and practice signs and fun activities to stimulate your baby’s growth in: motor development, cognitive development , language and literacy development and social and emotional development. Baby Signs® More Sign, Say & Play ™ (6 months–2 years and caregiver) This is another 6-week Baby Signs® Program designed especially for parents and their babies. An extension of the Sign, Say & Play™ Class for babies and parents, these classes follow the familiar Sign, Say & Play™ format of fun songs, games and activities. 36 new signs from the important themes of: feelings, outside, safety, farm, zoo and birthday will be taught. Parents will learn about the many benefits for families who incorporate signing into their daily lives and be provided with the knowledge and strategies they need to begin teaching their children to use signs. Smart Chefs: Promoting Preschool Skills Through Cooking (3-6 years old and caregiver)
Children's literature is full of references to foods and to other ideas that can inspire "cooking" activities for preschool-age children. The skills developed through these activities include: pre-math, pre-reading, health, safety, nutrition, following directions, cooperation, science and many more. Each class will feature additional activities including dramatic play, art, creative story telling and more. Come join us for wonderful literature-based, healthy cooking projects.

Hip Hop Kids (5–9 years)
Busy Bees Studio has joined with Dance 10 Dance Center to bring your child the best experience in dance instruction. Your child won't be able to stop moving to the funky beat of hip hop. We will incorporate beginning moves that will teach your child the fundamentals of hip hop and break dancing. This class will also give them the opportunity to explore their own creativity and sense of style. Parents are invited to attend the last class of the session to see what the children have learned! Please bring a water bottle with your child’s name on it to class.

Etiquette

Bee Polite! (3–5 years)
Manners are not just about which fork to use, they are about fostering respectfulness, responsibility and compassion. This class teaches manners, etiquette and social skills to children through the use of activities, props and role-playing. We will engage young children and hold their attention as they learn valuable life skills such as conversational manners, table manners, introductions and “common” courtesies.

Manners Matter (6–9 years)
This program concentrates on teaching children about respect, first impressions and communication skills. Smart Fit: Promoting Brain Development and Physical Fitness Through Movement and Music(3-6 years)
Studies show that moving the body wakes up the brain and makes it easier to learn and retain knowledge. In fact, there are specific movements that have been proven to stimulate brain development in children. This increases their ability to learn. It is VERY important that physical movement be a part of everyone's daily life. Learning to enjoy moving at a young age will increase the likelihood that your child will continue moving into adulthood and enjoy a healthy active lifestyle. Children will be engaged in 30 minutes of physical movement designed specifically to enhance learning ability and promote physical fitness, all set to fun music! Parent participation is optional.

Kindergarten Readiness

Children learn best when actively engaged. The goal of all the Kindergarten Readiness courses is to provide activities that the children love to do while teaching important kindergarten readiness skills.

Kindergarten Readiness I (for children who will attend Kindergarten in the Fall of 2009)
During this course your child will develop Kindergarten Readiness skills in a fun and nurturing environment. This class will focus on letter recognition, numbers, and fine motor development with an emphasis on learning to love books! These skills will be taught by a former Kindergarten teacher through hands on games and engaging activities. This first installment of the Kindergarten Readiness series focuses on uppercase letters A-P. As with all our Kindergarten Readiness classes, we will develop important Kindergarten skills such as: classifying, sorting, comparing, patterns, visual discrimination, predicting, story re-telling, and graphing.

The children will also learn to count to 50 and recognize numbers through 20. As always, these skills will be taught through interactive play and games. This second installment of the Kindergarten Readiness series focuses on uppercase letters Q–Z. As with all our Kindergarten Readiness classes we will develop important Kindergarten skills such as: classifying, sorting, comparing, patterns, visual discrimination, predicting, story re-telling, and graphing.

Sunrise™(2-3 years and parent/caregiver)
Sunrise™ is an exciting and innovative pre-keyboard preschool music program. Its flexible and innovative format includes singing, rhythm, and ear training through stories, songs, and games. We use percussion, rhythm and keyboard instruments as well as balls, scarves, and imaginative play to begin mastering basic musical concepts. Each session builds on previous teaching with puppet friends to guide the way.

Parent participation is an important part of the Sunrise™ program, enabling parents to continue musical skill-building and exploration beyond the classroom. Students who complete all three Sunrise™ programs are fully prepared to begin Music for Young Children’s Sunshine™ (beginning keyboard) program.

Puppet friend Buddy Croak (frog) leads the group in familiar songs like Old MacDonald and Twinkle Twinkle while introducing rhythm sticks, bells, castanets, and claves. Walking Bear, Standing Bear, Running Bear, and Sleepy Bear help children understand tempo changes and encourage them to explore tempo on rhythm instruments. Amigos Prescolar (Preschool Friends) (2 – 5 years)
This year long once-a-week mini preschool program will immerse children in Spanish while they learn and do all that is traditionally done in preschool. Taught by a former Montessori Preschool instructor, this hands-on, socially developmental program will include: arts and crafts, music and movement, practical living skills, imaginative play, songs, and exercises designed to develop cooperation and the ability to follow directions. Multi-cultural snacks are provided.

Jardin de Ninos Espanol (Spanish Kindergarten) (5-6 years and parent)
This year long once-a-week program is designed for the post-preschool child. This dynamic class taught by the founder of The Spanish Immersion Program and former Montessori Preschool instructor, Blanca Lawton, will keep kids active and engaged while they explore stations which will highlight: crafts, music, dance, games, role-playing, songs, and exercises all in Spanish.

Bilingual Families (Parents and their children 18 months–2.5 years)
Even before your baby speaks he or she can begin to learn Spanish! Parents will learn how they can help lay the foundation of a second language while having fun with their tot.! Parents and babies will learn basic Spanish using repetitive songs, nursery rhymes and puppets. This class will be fun and educational for both babies and moms.

Toddler Time (18 months - 3 years with caregiver)
This exciting, educational play time offers an opportunity for little ones to move and groove, socialize, learn, explore and most importantly have fun! Toddlers will laugh, sing, dance, and pretend their way through themed activities including: art, reading, puppets, imaginative play (dress up), music and movement, math and science. A light snack will be served to the children, please bring your own water bottle or sippy cup.

CPR/AED/First Aid Training (adults)
Are you prepared to provide first aid or other lifesaving techniques in an emergency? Whether you have an addition to your family, have forgotten the lessons you took as an expectant parent, need certification for employment or just want to brush up on the latest American Heart Associations (AHA) course curriculum (including the most recent 2007 changes) this class will provide you with what you need to be prepared, from CPR, first aid and automated external defibrillator (AED). The classes are led by licensed or certified Nurses, EMTs and other emergency trained personnel who deliver these life saving techniques in the field. It is through their professional experience that we are able to offer what can not be found in simple textbook training. These classes use humor in a relaxed environment and gives the skills needed for the average person feel more confident in the event of an emergence to deliver these lifesaving techniques.
